YB Ustaz Wan Hassan has long been actively involved in community development and social welfare initiatives, particularly in Dungun. He serves as Chairman of the Parliamentary Welfare Service Committee, providing assistance and outreach to local communities. He is also widely regarded as a religious and community leader, serving as adviser to several suraus and mosques in the district, where his guidance has helped strengthen community-based religious education and activities. His appointment as Honorary Colonel of the Civil Defence Force (2015–2020) further reflected his commitment to public service, safety, and community resilience.
