The Standard Malaysian Name for the pink-red and lightweight timber of the genus Shorea (Dipterocarpaceae). Vernacular names used include majau (Sabah), meranti (Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak) with various epithets, seraya batu (Sabah) with various epithets, red seraya (Sabah) and various other local names too numerous to list here.
